For the past few years, a Lehigh County Chick-fil-A has hosted hundreds of dads and daughters at its annual date night event.

Other Chick-fil-A franchises hold “Daddy-Daughter Date Nights,” but the Lower Macungie Township location outgrew its Hamilton Boulevard restaurant awhile ago, said Mat Dempsey, the owner-operator.

The event moved to the Holiday Inn in Fogelsville, and “we started having a lot more fun when we got out of the restaurant,” Dempsey said. Attendees dressed up, and there were more activities.

Even with room for 400 people, however, it still sold out.

“Every year we just ran out of room. We would sell tickets, and as soon as we started selling them in the store, we constantly had people that we had to turn away,” Dempsey said.

Dempsey said at first, he was just spit-balling what it would cost to move to the PPL Center, Allentown’s new arena. But when he worked the numbers, Dempsey was convinced the restaurant could pull it off.

The annual Daddy-Daughter Date Night is planned for the night of Feb. 24 on the floor of the arena in Allentown, and there’s room for 1,000 people.

Tickets are $20 per person and include dinner and the activities: a DJ, a photo booth, a roaming photographer, face painting and a balloon artist. The event is open to all ages, although most girls are between 5 and 12 years old.

There are still tickets available; they can be purchased online here. The ticket prices include parking at the Linden Street garage attached to the PPL Center.
