The Transport committee will debate another ERC proposal regarding free buses in 2023

MADRID, 11 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda Commission of the Congress of Deputies will debate next Wednesday a proposal from Citizens to remove the security controls that are maintained at the accesses to high-speed lines of the railway stations owned by Adif and Adif Alta Speed.

It is a non-legal proposal, to which Europa Press had access, in which the ‘oranges’ explain that these controls generate crowds, hinder the transfer of passengers from the plane to the train and represent discrimination regarding the traffic of Surroundings.

In addition, the formation argues that during the periods of greatest influx of travelers, such as Christmas or various holidays, scenes of long lines and crowds are common in several of the main train stations in the country. Many of these crowds, according to Ciudadanos, take place due to the ‘bottlenecks’ that occur in the security controls of the stations to access the AVE, a situation similar to that which occurs in airports.

For training, this has raised doubts about the convenience of having this type of security control. Ciudadanos adds that, in addition, the presence of security controls at train stations in other European countries is something “infrequent, if not eccentric.”

The group also adds that its proposal finds justification in terms of mobility, since one of the main competitive advantages of the train over the plane resides “in the simplicity of its use and the absence of barriers”.

With regard to security, the parliamentary group describes the justification for these services as “difficult to understand”, since these controls only exist to access high-speed services and not to other services provided on the conventional network, both long and short range, where the damage “may be equal or greater”.

Another ERC proposal will also be discussed in the commission on Wednesday so that the Government maintains the 100% reduction of multi-trip tickets for more than two trips –excluding the round trip ticket– for regular passenger transport concessionaires by highway competence of the General Administration of the State.

This without prejudice to the administrative situation of the concession, as long as the same reduction is maintained for multi-trip tickets for rail transport. On the other hand, the Republican group also urges the Government to make effective the payment, before the end of 2022, of the aid provided for the sector provided for in the August decree on economic sustainability measures in the field of transport.

ERC also proposes introducing criteria of social profitability, territorial equity and universal accessibility in the new concession map of regular road transport services, guaranteeing that economic profitability “is not the main reason” for the design of this new map as defined by the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda.
