The skies may be sunny to start out this Super Bowl weekend in New Jersey, but that certainly won’t translate into warmth, forecasters say.

A frigid blast of cold air moving through the region this weekend is going to make otherwise moderate temperatures feel brisk, courtesy of wind chills, the forecasters say.

Saturday starts out sunny and should climb to a high near 35, with west winds running around 15 mph. Gusts could reach as high as 29 mph, the National Weather Service says.

Ignore those groundhogs. Here’s how much winter we really have left in N.J.

But those daytime temperatures could feel 10 to 20 degrees lower than that, AccuWeather says.

Clouds start to move in for Saturday night, when temperatures should drop to around 22 degrees. A southwest wind will keep running, blowing between 7 and 11 mph, the weather service says.

The clouds stick around for Super Bowl Sunday, which should be mostly cloudy with a high in the low- to mid-40s, the weather service says.  A southwest wind blowing 13 to 16 mph will keep the day feeling cooler though, AccuWeather says.

As game time approaches, Sunday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 33, with a northwest wind blowing 11 to 13 mph, the weather service says.
