Forward Danick Martel signed a one-year contract on Wednesday with the Laval Rocket, the Montreal Canadiens’ school club in the American Hockey League (AHL).
The pact is one-sided, so the 27-year-old will play next season only with the Laval team.
Martel was a big reason for the Rocket’s long playoff run in 2021-22. During the Calder Cup playoffs, he had nine goals and six assists for 15 points in as many games. During the regular season, he had 33 points, including 17 goals, in 70 outings.
The Drummondville native is an AHL veteran, having worn the uniform of four other league clubs before. He has four seasons of at least 20 career goals in the league.
