MADRID, 1 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Adamo has denounced that the cost of deploying fiber optics in rural areas can be between 10 and 15 times more expensive than doing it in the city, as reported by the operator in a statement.

Specifically, bringing high-speed Internet to towns, to remote or poorly communicated areas has become one of the great challenges in the field of communications.

“The rural environment is much more complex. To get an idea, the following data is enough: in July alone, Adamo was wiring 40,000 homes in 800 towns at the same time. This gives an idea of the degree of dispersion of the localities and the houses that form them”, said Xavier Viladegut, co-founder of Adamo and also director of deployment of the company during a few days.

Viladegut has recognized the importance of public-private collaboration. “The aid is an investment tractor, without a doubt, although it is true that the own funds that we disburse as operators end up exceeding, by far, what we receive from the Administration to carry out the deployment”, he indicated.

Finally, the manager recalled that Adamo is the “reference winner” in these tenders, as was demonstrated in the 2020, 2021 and 2022 calls (in the latter case, the resolution is provisional).

In total, more than 300 million euros of public-private budget to install high-speed Internet in 950,000 rural homes in 24 provinces.
