Kochi: A prominent Malayalam film actress was allegedly kidnapped and molested while she was returning home from a shoot in Kochi on Friday, media reports say.
The incident reportedly took place at around 9pm. The accused intercepted the actress’s car at Athaani in Ernakulam and abducted her. She was allegedly molested and threatened with dire consequences inside the running car. The gang also reportedly took video and photos of the actress.
She was allegedly held captive in her car for about an hour while it was driven to various parts of the city. When the car reached Palarivattom, the attackers escaped in another car.
The actress later managed to reach the house of a Malayalam film director and sought his help in filing a police report.
The car’s driver Martin has been arrested while the main accused Sunil is absconding. Police said it is a planned attack and at least five people are involved. Sunil who has a criminal background and accused in serval cases is the brain behind the incident, they said.
Police have registered a case of kidnapping and molestation and requested the public to pass on any information leading to Sunil’s arrest.
