This is a project scale solar which is associated with today EDF. On Wednesday, the moroccan Agency for renewable energies has announced that the first phase of the central Noor Midelt 1 was won by the consortium including the electrician habs to the group of Abu Dhabi, Masdar and the developer of the moroccan renewable energy Green of Africa. All in all, the site should display a total installed capacity of 800 megawatts (MW), is one of the largest projects in the world and the largest in Africa.
On the technological front, Noor Midelt 1 is expressed by deep advanced with the combination of photovoltaic power generation and storage equipment. Noor Midelt 1, the work should start at the end of the year 2019 for commissioning in 2022. The total amount of the investment is estimated at 700 million euros. EDF, via its subsidiary EDF Renewable, will be the reference shareholder, with a stake of 35 %. In the margin of this folder, EDF is already working with Masdar on various projects. One of the most emblematic was inaugurated in April 2018: it is a slice of 200 megawatts in the united arab Emirates, that do not have means of storage.
