Eight out of ten Spaniards will anticipate their Christmas purchases on Black Friday, a day of important sales held on the third Thursday of November, which this year will fall on the 25th, according to a survey that the experience gift website www.aladinia.com has carried out on its users.
Three out of ten respondents acknowledge that they will buy only if the objects they are looking for have a 30% discount or more, 4% will not buy if they do not have a 70% or more discount and 13% acknowledge that they will buy if the discount is from 10%.
This study also indicates that the budget they will allocate to Black Friday will be 224 euros on average, and only 17% plan to spend more than 400 euros. 30% of customers will spend the same as last year, 37% will spend more and 33% less.
On average five products will be purchased, 26% of users plan to buy less than 4 and 9% ten or more. The items that will be purchased the most are computers and electrical appliances (26%), fashion and footwear (25%), leisure and experiences (23%), health and beauty (16%) and home and decoration (9%).
In addition to Christmas purchases, 32% will also buy for birthday gifts, 16% for anniversaries and 9% for Secret Santa’s day gifts.
71% of those surveyed affirm that they will make most of their purchases ‘online’ and 40% that they will only use this method. 10% will go to physical stores. Of those who make their purchases online, 79% will use the mobile phone and 21% the computer.
The study also indicates that 33% of Spaniards enter websites in search of offers and banners, while 31% are guided by social networks. 19% find the gift they are looking for thanks to the ‘newsletters’ to which they have signed up and only 11% wait for a family member or friend to notify them.
The most popular experiences included in the Aladinia.com study are spa and relaxation (31%) and getaways (23%). Balloon and light aircraft flights (16%) and other adventure activities (13%) are also of interest. In addition, 14% look for gastronomic experiences.
