NEW YORK — Two former Drug Enforcement Administration officials have been sentenced to probation for trying to conceal their ownership of a Hackensack strip club.
David Polos and Glen Glover previously were convicted at trial in Manhattan federal court for making false statements on security forms regarding their stake in the Twins Go-Go Lounge, at 125 Saddle River Ave.
U.S. District Judge Paul G. Gardephe on Wednesday sentenced Polos, 52, to one year of probation, according to NBC New York, which reported Polos wept and asked for forgiveness from his family and colleague.
Gardephe on Friday imposed the same sentence on Glover, of Lyndhurst, the Associated Press reported.
Prosecutors have said Polos, a supervisor who led a special DEA task force, and Glover, a technology specialist, were worried they would be denied security clearances if they disclosed their involvement in the club, which they bought in 2010 through a shell company.
Investigators said Polos used an agency-issued cellphone for club business while he was on the clock for the DEA, and that both men were aware of unauthorized immigration status of some of the dancers.
At least four people were injured when a fight at the club in January 2014 spilled out into the street. Police said two people were intentionally struck with a vehicle during the brawl.
Following his arrest in May 2015, Glover was suspended from the agency, which told the New York Times a felony conviction would make him ineligible for further employment. NBC New York reported Polos was allowed to retire prior to being charged.
