The general director of the business conglomerate Fomento Económico Mexicano (Femsa), Daniel Rodríguez Cofré, after consultations with his family and his doctors, has made the decision to resign his position to focus on his health and the treatment of colon cancer that he had been diagnosed, as reported by the company.
Until a replacement is appointed, José Antonio Fernández Carbajal, Executive Chairman of the Board and former CEO of Femsa, will immediately assume the role of acting CEO on an interim basis, with the support of the management team and the CEOs of the units. company business.
In this regard, Femsa’s board of directors has approved this decision, which is consistent with the recommendation of the Board’s Corporate Practices and Nominations Committee and the contingency protocol for the efficient execution of the company’s business strategy and operations. Likewise, the board of directors will continue to work on management succession plans.
“After a period of deep reflection, I have made this difficult decision, which I believe is the best for my family and for Femsa,” said Daniel Rodriguez Cofré.
