BARCELONA, 30 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The ‘country manager’ of Goodman Spain, Ignacio García, has considered that the new Nissan space is a “great opportunity for the Port of Barcelona, which has been demanding logistics land for some time”.
He said it in an interview in ‘La Vanguardia’ collected by Europa Press this Sunday, after the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) awarded in February the tender for the lease of land that until recently more than one year Nissan occupied the Australian company, in alliance with the Electromobility Hub.
He pointed out that the company calculates to build some 135,000 meters of logistics warehouses, although he pointed out that “seeing the needs that exist today in Barcelona and taking into account that last year more than 400,000 square meters were absorbed in Catalonia, we can think that in a year the entire surface could be occupied”.
With this space they hope to “attract large companies that operate in the port”, and they have assured that it will also be an opportunity for the Barcelona-El Prat Airport.
Regarding global investment, he has said that he cannot give figures because “everything depends on the projects” that they carry out and the investments that the Hub needs.
He has affirmed that the scenario that they contemplate for the electromobility Hub project is “that it works, that it starts running soon, contracts, manufactures and sells electric vehicles”, and has highlighted that it is made up of two companies –textually– consolidated as they are BTech and QEV Technologies.
When asked if the company notices a slowdown in the market, he answered yes, but pointed out that Spain “is being one of the countries in Europe that is responding best and the data on supply absorption, with a rise in 2022 of the 41% in Madrid and 21% in Barcelona, this is demonstrated”.
