It was a day for really sticking out your neck at the L.A. Zoo.
Guests were able to stand face to face with giraffes Thursday at the Zoo’s new interactive Giraffe Feedings.
The feedings officially kick off this month as part of the Zoo’s yearlong 50th anniversary, called “ZooLAbration.”

The feedings won’t just be about food, though – at least for humans.
Guests will learn about the world’s tallest land mammal from zoo educators, who share facts about the Masai giraffes’ daily lives at the Zoo.
For example, did you know they can eat 70 to 80 pounds of up to 100 different species of plants a day and feed for 16 to 20 hours?
