In front of just over 300 people gathered at the Glenn Gould Theatre, the two Canadian drivers made no secret of having been flattered to see their name added to the list of all these racing pioneers who marked the history of the discipline in the country.

“I am very touched by this award,” said Godin. I’m really proud and moved. In 1978, I was inspired by Gilles Villeneuve by his victory at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, and he, at the same time, traced my course. I am very grateful to all those people who made it possible for me to realize my dream of racing. »

Appreciated partners

Dumoulin held a similar speech in front of the guests, while thanking all those who believed in him, including his business partners without whom, he said, he would not have had such success on the racing circuits.

Originally from Mauricie, Dumoulin will try to become in 2022 the second driver in the NASCAR Pinty’s series to win four titles, a feat that only Ontarian Scott Steckly has managed to accomplish since the creation of the championship 15 years ago.

Pilot Patrick Carpentier and journalist Philippe Brasseur were also inducted, but they could not attend the presentation, held back by their professional obligations in Quebec.
