Oregon Gov. Kate Brown on Tuesday announced the latest addition to her office: Jason Lewis-Berry, a former official at the U.S. Department of State, will advise the governor on economic and jobs policy.

Lewis-Berry will replace Vince Porter, who served in the role for Brown and former Gov. John Kitzhaber. Earlier this month, Porter took a job at the Oregon office of Strategies 360, a lobbying firm.

Lewis-Berry will also oversee the governor’s “Regional Solutions” team of staffers that live and work throughout the state.

In a statement, Brown said Lewis-Berry’s experience at home and abroad will help Oregon’s economy.

Lewis-Berry, who grew up in Eugene, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication from the University of Oregon, as well as a Master’s degree in International Affairs from Georgetown University.

At the State Department, he worked as a diplomat for 9 years and oversaw assistance programs across three continents.

Before that, he worked for a humanitarian relief organization Canlı bahis in Africa and as a consultant on homeland security and disaster preparedness in Washington, D.C., the statement says.

He will start on Feb. 21.
