A suspect was arrested in Brossard for using the grandson fraud scheme with a few victims in Quebec.
The Service de police de la Ville de Québec (SPVQ) has confirmed the arrest of a 24-year-old man for fraud over $5,000, in the Brossard sector, in collaboration with the Longueuil.
On July 20, following media coverage of three fraud attempts, the SPVQ received a report from a victim in connection with this type of scam.
This scheme being on the rise for a few days, the investigators then tried to find a suspect outside of Quebec.
The individual was arrested and questioned, then released pending further proceedings.
The police point out that increased vigilance can prevent this type of fraud.
