The justice maltese has ordered Monday the opening of an investigation against the former head of the police of the island, Lawrence Cutajar, who is suspected of contacts with people involved in the murder in 2017 of the investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia.

According to witnesses interviewed at a public hearing, Mr Cutajar would have met a man that the justice considers as an intermediary in the murder of the journalist and would have asked her in particular where there is a registration considered important in this case.
