A hearing has been postponed for the 25-year-old man charged in the November 2015 crash that killed two friends in Bayonne while they crossed Route 440.

Waqas Ibrar was expected to appear in Essex County Court on Monday afternoon for a status hearing. Authorities said Ibrar was driving more than 100 miles per hour when he fatally struck Tyler Sellers, 20, and Sabore Worrell, 24.

During Ibrar’s last hearing, his defense attorney told Judge Ronald Wigler he planed to hire a private investigator to recreate the Nov. 2 crash.

Worrell was the father to a young son and Sellers was a recent Bayonne High School graduate who enjoyed skateboarding. The community rallied for a pedestrian bridge along the busy stretch of the roadway, which the city received a grant to build last month.

The next hearing — where Ibrar’s attorney is expected to provide findings of the crash investigation — is now scheduled for March 27 at 1:30 p.m.
