Antargaz, the specialist of the gas cylinder, but not only. The company is also a supplier of natural gas identified by the Commission of energy regulation (CRE) and, as such, flows of volume equivalent to about 4 terawatt-hours (TWh) per year – enough to power a pool of 300 000 people. “For this activity as for the other, our watchword remains the same, namely a combination of expertise, business sense, advice and reliability, says Antoine Willaume, the spokesperson of Antargaz, we are also a full actor of the energy transition, in the sense that the gas is perfectly complementary to renewable energy. It is the energy of the complement par excellence to ensure the relay of green energy.”

Established since a long time in the landscape, Antargaz has initially forged a reputation thanks to the millions of gas cylinders are marketed each year. “You could believe in this product with intangible, but this is not the case at all,” continues Antoine Willaume, on the contrary, innovations are regularly added to this offer.” Thus, the gas cylinder is now equipped with a gauge, so as to know exactly the level remaining. At the same time, composite materials, much less heavy, have taken up the baton for the container, whose weight has dropped from 13 to 4 kilos approximately. As A guideline, a 13 kilo bottle of gas costs about thirty euros. Its use is mainly dedicated to the cooking.

Inauguration of a transport at home

regarding the distribution of the bottles, the channels are expanded: on the margins of traditional retail outlets (service stations, signs, specialized…), a transport at home has been inaugurated. Finally, there is a service operating day and night in about 1,000 points of sale, in such a way that the consumer can buy a bottle of gas no matter what time of the day, thanks to vending machines. “In the case of the distribution to the home, we are the only ones today to provide this service, made possible thanks to the digital and of our site Gazissimo.fr” adds Antoine Willaume.

Antargaz also markets propane in the tank because 75% of the communes in France are not connected to the natural gas network. These tanks are most often located in individuals but in the context of a public service delegation, Antargaz may also establish and fill the tank to a village. “The construction lasted about two years: the principal is often a union of energy, agencies with which we are accustomed to work, says Antoine Willaume, the tanks in question are connected to different houses through a system of piping we install. Experience shows that a large number of municipalities are interested by this offer.”

Passed under the american flag in 2004, the accounts of Antargaz are consolidated with those of its shareholder UGI. The turnover would be around 1.2 billion euros.
