The Minnesota Twins showed consistency and easily defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 9-3 on Friday at Rogers Centre.

The winning streak of Canada’s only major league baseball team ends at eight.

Yusei Kikuchi (2-2) added a loss to his record allowing seven hits and four earned runs in four and two-thirds innings of work. We will remember, however, that he allowed three home runs during the game.

Kyle Garlick announced the Twins’ intentions in the first inning by hitting a long ball that also allowed Jorge Polanco to cross home plate. Garlick had a second one in the third set, this time solo.

Jose Miranda also managed to send an offering from Kikuchi into the stands, before inflicting the same fate on Trevor Richards in sixth.

Among crowd favorites Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer also homered, while Teoscar Hernandez allowed Bo Bichette to score on a single.

Chi Chi Gonzalez defended the Twins mound well allowing four hits and three earned runs in three innings. However, it was Jharel Cotton (1-1) who deserved the victory, he who was perfect in two sets of work.

The Jays and Twins will meet again Saturday and Sunday in Toronto.

In New York, Gerrit Cole (5-1) was imperial allowing just two hits in seven innings of work and the Yankees offense gave the Detroit Tigers no chance. The crowd favorites prevailed 13-0.

In Philadelphia, Zach Eflin (2-4) was also outstanding in shutting out the Los Angeles Angels for eight innings. The Phillies thrashed their day rivals 10-0.

In Baltimore, Bruce Zimmerman (2-4) was humiliated by the Guardians sluggers by allowing 10 hits and five earned runs in under six innings at the mound. The Cleveland team beat the Orioles 6-3.
