MADRID, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Kyndryl and Nokia have extended their global edge computing and networking alliance by three years with a focus on the development and delivery of LTE and 5G private wireless services and solutions for Industry 4.0.
The companies began their alliance last February and have fulfilled more than 100 global commitments with clients from 24 countries, ranging from advice to pilot tests, according to a statement.
90% of the commitments signed have been with companies in the industrial manufacturing sector, including petrochemical, mining, timber and energy and ‘utilities’.
For example, the companies have developed a private wireless network for Dow Chemical at its petrochemical processing plant in Texas, said Paul Savill, global leader of Kyndryl’s Network and Edge Computing work.
The two companies will open a research and development laboratory in the state of Virginia (USA) and will present new services within the framework of the Mobile World Congress.
“Currently, the two companies are exploring and developing new solutions and integrated services of Edge, Cloud, IP networking, optical, fixed access, 4G and 5G Core and software technologies for network operations, capable of responding to the growing demand for networks industrial-grade and mission-critical wireless capabilities,” said Nokia’s Director of Global Enterprise Business Chris Johnson.
