The passenger of a vehicle is between life and death, after a violent collision which occurred Saturday morning, with a building on rue Principale, in Piedmont, in the Laurentians.
According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, the accident occurred around 3:45 a.m. The crashed vehicle caught fire, but the fire was quickly brought under control.
However, the passenger became trapped inside. The fire services therefore needed lifeguards to extricate him from there, said Sergeant Nancy Fournier, spokesperson for the SQ.
“She was taken to hospital with serious injuries and there are fears for her life,” she added.
The driver was arrested for impaired driving.
“He was also taken to hospital for injuries, but there is no fear for his life,” said Ms. Fournier. A blood test was taken to check the driver’s blood alcohol level […] Charges for driving while impaired by alcohol could be filed against him.
