MORRIS PLAINS — College football coaching legend Lou Holtz will address the annual ‘N.J. Reagan Day’ gala on March 15, organizers announced.
The event serves as a tribute to the late President Reagan and a showcase for Reagan memorabilia.
Holtz, 80, is best known for leading Notre Dame to a team record nine straight bowl appearances, including a national championship in 1988.
President Donald Trump touted Holtz’s endorsement during his campaign.
Holtz is the latest in a series of high-profile speakers. Former U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld spoke in 2016.
Assemblyman Jay Webber, a Republican from Morris Plains, founded N.J. Reagan Day in 2004, soon after Reagan’s death at age 93.
The event has grown in size in recent years, moving from a hotel in Parsippany to the Westmount Country Club in Woodland Park.
