Anyone who has ever been cheated on will know the extreme pain and heart ache cheating can cause.
But despite there often being warning signs when it comes to spotting a cheater, many people miss them when they’re blinded by love.
Relationship experts believe that adulterers possess a range of subtle personality traits that once spotted, can save both time and broken hearts.
Olga Levancuka, author of “How To Be Selfish” and fellow expert Gary Amers revealed the signs that they deem important to lookout for.
They are self-obsessed
Speaking to MailOnline, the experts claimed that most cheaters tend to be narcissists.
If your partner lacks empathy and has traits of being self-absorbed, then he or she is more likely to cheat.
This kind of person thrives off attention – and a new love interest may seem more important than your feelings.
They’re insecure
Insecurity is also a trait common in those who cheat. A need to feel loved and reassured can manifest itself into straying. This kind of person will be scared that they are not good enough or that they will end up alone – so they tend to always be on the lookout for a back-up plan.
They are greedy
Those who cheat always seem to think that the “grass is greener on the other side” – which is why they enjoy “exploring other options.”
They accuse you of cheating
The classic sign of a guilty conscience. Because they have the urge to cheat, they put you in the same boat. Becoming paranoid is a classic sign when it comes to spotting a possible cheat.
Honest, reliable lovers will likely never doubt you – because they do not doubt themselves.
They love to flirt
Cheaters often enjoy flirting with everyone, and may even do so while they are with you. This kind of person gets a thrill out the act of flirting – but they may perceive it as an invitation for more and can eventually lead them to cheat on you.
They deceive you
If they’ve lied before, they may well lie again. You will need to be careful as this gives an insight into their moral code. But, it’s worth noting that not all liars are cheaters – but cheaters are always liars.
