The Piano Man is coming back!
On Thursday, the Rose Quarter announced that legendary singer-songwriter Billy Joel would be returning to Portland in December for his first solo concert in more than 10 years.
Joel will perform at the Moda Center on Friday, Dec. 8. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 24.
Joel’s most-recent performance in Portland was actually in 2010, when he performed at the Moda Center with Elton John as part of the “Face to Face” tour. But his last solo performance was in November 2007.
Over the course of his career, Joel has sold more than 150 million records, and has racked up an impressive 33 consecutive Top 40 hits. He’s the sixth best-selling recording artist of all time, and the third best-selling solo artist. And he has a half-dozen Grammy Awards.
His many hits include “Movin’ Out,” “New York State of Mind,” “Big Shot,” “Uptown Girl,” “We Didn’t Start the Fire,” “Keeping the Faith,” “Tell Her About It,” “The River of Dreams,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll To Me,” and, of course, “The Piano Man.”
Tickets go on sale Friday, Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $49.50, $89.50 and $149.50, not including service charges.
