Fashion Week’s best beauty looks were once again pared-down and skin-focused. Makeup artists sent models down the runway with little more than a swipe of concealer, glossed-up cheekbones and a few bright lips.
The only burst of color came on model’s eyes — from hot pink and sky-blue lids at Oscar de la Renta to cobalt lashes at Jason Wu and lids at Anna Sui.
To ease into the trend, reach for colored mascara. The electric pigment may seem flashy, but it looks natural on lashes and subtly accents all eye colors. Models at Jason Wu wore a yet-to-be-released Maybelline mascara, but for now, try Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash in “All About Yves” ($26).
Want even more pizazz? Brighten your lids with a pencil-and-shadow combo. At ODLR, makeup artist Tom Pecheux drew a thick line of MAC Chromagraphic Pencil in “Process Magenta” ($17) above the lash line, and mixed MAC Chromacake in cyan and pure white ($27) for a shadow that went from the liner to just above the crease.
Keep everything else neutral, and let your eyes be the window into your oh-so-colorful soul.
