It’s great hat weather — cool enough that you need a little extra warmth, warm enough that you don’t necessarily want to bundle up in your heaviest items. Hats can help, and here are some cute ones, plus some other pretties.

  • MoreEnds hat. This cute little hat is meant to use up fingering-weight scraps. I especially love the braid decoration, which spares us the annoyance of weaving in all those pesky ends.
  • Puppy Love softie. What a sweetie. I love this adorable stuffed toy dog.
  • “Gilmore Girls” Blanket. Crochet. Great gift for the superfan.
  • Dawn to Dusk Hat. Courtesy of Portland’s own Twisted yarn shop. I love this hat – am wearing it as I write this, as a matter of fact – and everyone I’ve ever made it for loves it, too. The cable band is especially fun, it’s delightfully slouchy, and nonknitters have told me “it looks like something you’d buy!” (They meant well, OK? It was noncrafter speak for “Wow, that’s cool!”)
  • Anything Goes shawl/wrap. The designer calls this “a perfect design to showcase yarn. Truly, anything goes here! You can use gradients, favorite combination of colors, or stash bust your scraps.” It’s gorgeous!
  • Water spreads out shawl. Oh, this lacy wrap is pretty. Look at that border!
  • Belle Cloth. An adorable washcloth. The designer’s got a ton of cute ones, including the Billy the Kid Cloth, the Eleanor Dishcloth, the Oh, Nuts! Cloth and the Purrfect Cloth. Knit them all up in cotton and wrap them with some baby soap and shampoo for an adorable shower gift. Or knit them all in washable wool and join them into a blanket! So sweet!
  • Burnaby hat. Love this cabled Brooklyn Tweed cap.
  • CrissCross scarf. Another nifty reversible, unisex pattern. Has a companion piece, the CrissCross hat.
  • Baby Blanket Snowflakes. Knitted in the round and steeked. Incredible.
  • Owl Cocoon Baby. Crochet. This is adorable. Love the coordinating hat!
  • What’s Yours is Mine hat. Love this textured unisex hat.
