Dr. Sheldon Braverman sure knows how to widen the eyes of his eye patients before they even walk into the examining room. All it takes is a little help from nearly 1,600 of his closest and smallest physician friends.

The 81-year-old ophthalmologist is the proud owner of a vast collection of doctor figurines, which he displays throughout various waiting areas at Braverman-Terry-Oei Eye Associates in San Antonio. The doctor-themed statuettes, puppets, and other replicas cover just about any medical vocation that calls for a white lab coat, with everything from frogs and monkeys to Santa Claus and personalized bobbleheads rocking those signature duds and other doctor props.

To learn more about Braverman’s collection and how it got started almost 60 years ago, and to hear him tell the story in his own words, please visit our suscriber site, ExpressNews.com. Check out a sampling of his sprawling collection above.
