Love is a battlefield. But in some states, online dating is legitimately unsafe.

Highspeedinternet.com and Safewise.com found that Washington, D.C., Alaska and Louisiana were the most dangerous states to date online using apps like Tinder and Bumble, according to their recent study.

Researchers analyzed FBI’s cybercrime and violent crime rates per capita for each state as well as CDC’s reported cases of common STDs. Also in the Top 10 were New Mexico, Nevada and Jojobet South Carolina.

In fact, the survey notes that “the District of Columbia’s rates per capita for both violent crime and STDs are almost double the rates in Alaska, its nearest competitor on our Most Dangerous list.”

On the flip side, New England states were deemed the safest places to date, with Vermont taking the top spot, followed by Maine and New Hampshire.
