They’re drunk off a natural phenomenon.
Icelandic police would appreciate it if tourists would please pull over if they want to stare at the Northern Lights.
Police in South Iceland recently reported two incidents where they pulled over a swerving driver, assuming they were drunk. But they quickly learned the tourists were stone sober, but were just awestruck by the brilliant lights of the Aurora Borealis.
A police statement read, “The driver told the police he saw the Northern Lights and couldn’t bring himself to stop looking at them.”
Iceland Magazine published an account of both incidents, dubbing it “driving under the influence of the Aurora.”
