SAN ANTONIO — Long-awaited hugs, smiles and happy tears set the scene at Providence Catholic School Thursday as an Air Force dad reunited with his eight children after a 6-month deployment in Kuwait.
Air Force Tech Sgt. Clark Medina’s children are enrolled at the all-girls school as well as Central Catholic High School and St. Paul’s Catholic School.
After surprising his daughter in College Station, Medina drove back to San Antonio and was so committed to not spoiling the school day surprise that he stayed the night at St. Paul’s gymnasium on Wednesday, Providence spokeswoman Lori Rosales told mySA.com.

Staff at Providence and Central — which are adjacent campuses — gathered sophomore Calista Medina, freshman Caroline Medina and Clark Medina Jr. under the assumption that they were representing their schools in an interview with KSAT 12 about Catholic Schools Week.
The father sneaked in through the classroom’s backdoor for the big reveal.
Providence spokeswoman Lori Rosales said the Medina girls and their classmates were all crying.
“We’re all about families here. We’re one big, happy family,” Rosales added.
