MADRID, 27 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The executive director of Indra and general director of Minsait, Luis Abril, has highlighted the importance for companies of evolving their internal processes to have a competitive advantage and be more flexible and efficient during the presentation of the Ascendant Digital Maturity 2022 Report ‘Modernize and Grow in Cloud’.

The Ascendant Report from Minsait, an Indra company, has determined that 80% of companies accept that adapting to new applications and traveling to the cloud will be relevant pillars of their strategic plan due to the strategic and operational flexibility they provide, as it allows them to navigate in today’s changing environment.

Secondly, 49% of the firms attach importance to this adaptation due to the need to adopt the new functionalities they offer.

The document, which this year aims to assess at what point companies in the main economic sectors are at the level of application maturity, also confirms that putting these intentions into practice is not being easy for most of the companies consulted, more out of 100.

Today, only 10% of companies claim to be taking advantage of the full potential offered by the Cloud. Other relevant data is that only 16% have a budget to successfully undertake modernization processes and 46% of companies still do not have defined leaders to promote strategies.

“In the coming years, the companies that lead the process of modernizing systems and migrating to the cloud will have a clear competitive advantage that will allow them to react to any eventuality in the current context of uncertainty in which we operate. On the other hand, the lagging companies will run the risk of losing their position,” Abril warned:

The executive director of Indra and general director of Minsait has added that this journey is not easy and “requires investing resources, closing agreements, reinforcing talent and being disciplined in terms of defining management and monitoring plans”

In this line, the perception of this change as the only possible way to maintain and increase competitiveness is growing. In this way, concern for data security is increasingly present in business strategies. According to the report, 80% of the companies interviewed have focused on data security and continuous supervision.

“Digital sovereignty has evolved a lot and is understood as an advantage, but there are certain doubts, especially in its legislative application, especially in sectors such as the public, where its adaptation has more effect”, stressed the general director of Indra and person in charge of markets and verticals in Minsait, Borja Ochoa.

Ochoa has also highlighted the sensitivity that companies have to the potential problems associated with cybersecurity components. “Only 40% of them have specific plans to manage data problems related to cyberattacks, an especially low percentage in the context we are experiencing,” he added.

The current context, marked by uncertainty, supply crises or the energy conflict, has forced companies and institutions to change and adapt to the latest consumer demands.

As the report indicates, many companies have already adapted their systems to the new scenarios, advancing especially in commercial systems, in the economic-financial department and in the work structure, evolving the systems to the existence of virtual offices or platforms that prioritize teleworking.

However, the text confirms that there are still reluctances, especially in the evolution of the most strategic systems for fear that they will affect business continuity. These barriers that limit the total transformation go through issues such as security and data sovereignty.

In any case, even in this area, companies are making progress: 60% of them have already focused on these aspects and have incorporated control and supervision mechanisms to accompany the change.

In order to meet the new objectives, what worries the main economic areas the most is the lack of specialized talent to carry out the development of digitization strategies. 59% of the firms surveyed have stressed that this lack of qualified workers is one of the reasons that most push them to stop modernization initiatives.

This and other concerns can be solved by having strategic ‘partners’ who understand the difficulty of the process and have tools and solutions to carry out the strategies.

“On this journey, allying with strategic ‘partners’ is essential. At Indra and Minsait we not only have technical knowledge and the ability to bring solutions to the Cloud, but we also have customer knowledge and a very good understanding of the legal framework in which we move. We are in a unique situation: we can give a multidimensional response to a technical challenge, which adds flexibility to the digitization processes”, stressed the president of Indra, Marc Mutra.

The president of Indra has emphasized that the firm understands the movement of the Cloud as part of a digitization strategy that offers organizations the possibility of streamlining and making their processes more flexible.

“Competition in general is fierce, and digitization processes have accelerated particularly with the pandemic throughout the value chain,” he added.

During the presentation, companies that are currently facing their modernization processes such as Enel Group, which has started the journey to the cloud hand in hand with AWS, also participated. The Madrid City Council, which is carrying out its evolution process together with Microsoft, or the Garcia CarriĆ³n group, which is in the process of technological adaptation with the advice of Google Cloud, have also been present.

By sectors, 91% of energy companies have already implemented modernized systems, which allows the sector to stand out from the rest of the strategic economic areas as a leader in digital transformation.

The Telecommunications sector has also come a long way and stands out from other economic areas, although the report indicates that it must consolidate the activities in progress to achieve an integrated strategy. Another of the sectors that have progressed is the Media, which responds better and better to the current demands of consumers, according to the report.

On the other hand, those that have the most pending tasks in the field of digitization are sectors such as Construction, Industry and Services, Consumption, Insurance and Public Administrations, ultimately.

In them, despite the interest that companies show in digitizing, the main limitations are usually the lack of human resources, technological obsolescence and the fear that the adaptation of critical processes will affect their business areas.
