VOORHEES TWP. — Authorities say a verbal altercation that turned physical ended with a local man being shot multiple times late Friday.

A suspect in the case is still being sought, Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Voorhees Police Chief Louis Bordi said in a news release on the case issued Saturday.

Officials say Voorhees police responded around 10:45 p.m. Friday to a 911 call that a 25-year-old man had been shot multiple times on the 100 block of Kirkbride Road.

When officers arrived they found a wounded man, but the suspect had fled.

The man who had been shot was taken to Cooper University Hospital, Camden. He was reported to be in stable condition on Saturday.

Man indicted in fatal shooting, kidnapping

Authorities say the victim and the suspect — who where known to each other — got into a verbal and then physical altercation which lead to the shooting, according to authorities.

Officials know who they are looking for, but on Saturday afternoon declined to release his name.

The suspect, who remains at large, has been charged with one count first-degree attempted murder, one count second-degree aggravated assault, and one count second-degree possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, officials said.

The investigation is ongoing.
