McDonald’s is investing over $100 million to help recover from the recent E. coli outbreak linked to their slivered onions. The fast-food chain plans to support franchise owners who suffered losses by investing $65 million in the hardest-hit states. An additional $35 million will go towards traffic-driving programs like marketing efforts.

The company is also working on local recovery plans for markets that were severely impacted by the outbreak. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a total of 104 cases, 37 hospitalizations, and one death across 14 states in connection to the outbreak. However, the Food and Drug Administration stated that there is no ongoing food safety concern related to McDonald’s restaurants.
