A Metra Milwaukee District-West Line train hit and killed a pedestrian just west of the commuter railroad’s Roselle station Monday evening, a spokeswoman for the agency said.
Train No. 2239 had been scheduled to leave the Roselle station, headed for Elgin, just before 6:10 p.m., and the incident happened not far to the west of the station, said Katie Dahlstrom, a Metra spokeswoman.
Metra police are investigating the incident, but Dahlstrom said she could only confirm that the person died and did not have information on the circumstances because the "investigation is ongoing." Roselle police referred questions to Metra police.
Trains in both directions on the line were stopped in the area of the station, and delays were expected to last a hour to 90 minutes, Dahlstrom said. Check Metra’s website for travel details.
