The Minister of Finance and Public Function, María Jesús Montero, has been in favor of giving “continuity” to taxes on large fortunes, energy companies and banks, which have a period of two years, and has affirmed that Spain still needs the large incomes have tax figures that adjust “well” to what is happening in the world.

This was stated by Montero after being asked in an interview on TVE’s ‘Las mañanas de la 1’ about the PSOE’s intention to maintain the tax on large fortunes, energy companies and banks, where he stressed that “it is necessary to evaluate what these tax figures contribute and make the adjustments that experience reveals”.

In relation to the price of electricity, Montero recalled that the Iberian solution has been exported by Europe as “a good measure” that allows companies and families to lower the electricity bill.

Regarding the taxes directed at large capitals and large energy companies, Montero stressed that they are also adopted in Europe as “a good practice” and, therefore, “it will be necessary to see if their evaluation and performance is true or not”.

In this line, the head of the Department of Finance and Public Function has affirmed that she believes that it is “obligatory that in situations of special difficulty, and also in normal conditions, the Spanish tax system is progressive.

In addition, Montero has referred to the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, asking him what he is going to do with the employment policy, with the pension policy, given the latent “expectation” before the only ‘face to face’ — organized by Atresmedia for a space of 100 minutes– tonight between the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, and Feijóo.

Regarding the electoral program of the PSOE, Montero has stressed that it has young people in Spain as its “star audience” and as a priority audience. “We need to implement mechanisms that allow people to quickly integrate into the labor market,” she stressed.
