MADRID, 13 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Finance and fourth vice president, María Jesús Montero, has stressed the importance of fighting against tax fraud in light of the discovery of more than 16,000 million euros defrauded from the Tax Agency.
On his way out of the Congressional control session, Montero was asked if he was aware that 26% of personal income tax collection was not collected due to fraud, according to a report published by the Treasury collected by ‘El Confidencial’.
According to data provided by the Tax Agency, its actions have resulted in collection and fraud control results in 2022 of 16,675 million euros, 1.3% less than a year before. Within these figures, the department highlights the direct income of 10,536 million euros achieved by the AEAT in its control actions.
The minister has denounced these possible fraudulent acts sometimes carried out through “fiscal engineering” and has emphasized the need to combat them “among all of us.” “It is a challenge for all administrations and the Tax Agency has it as one of the main objectives,” stated Montero.
Next, the fourth vice president pointed out that more than 16,000 million of money has emerged that “allegedly” has been defrauded. “The studies allow us to get closer to a reality that is a reality that we all have to combat together and is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Finance,” she concluded.
