A 72-year-old man succumbed to his injuries after his light aircraft crashed in a field on Wednesday evening in Saint-Paul-d’Abostford, Montérégie.

The accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. near rang Papineau when the aircraft in distress attempted an emergency landing.

The death of the septuagenarian was found in a hospital center later at the end of the evening, said Cristina Lopez, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

Another 25-year-old man on board also suffered serious injuries, but there are no longer fears for his life.

Firefighters were called to the scene to extricate the two victims, while the Transportation Safety Board (TSB) launched an investigation into the circumstances of this accident.
