TWO SISTERS (SEVILLE), July 16 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the PP of Andalusia, Juanma Moreno, has described as “unfortunate” that Andalusia “cannot opt” for the aid proposed by the central Executive before the expiration of the protocol of the fishing agreement between Europe and Morocco since midnight on Monday 17 July, since they are fixed by temporary stop that establish the European fishing funds and that the Andalusian sector has already exhausted. “Sánchez is angry because the Andalusians supported the PP in the municipal elections and punishes our land with decisions of this type,” he asserted.
In an attention to the media this Sunday in the Seville municipality of Dos Hermanas, Moreno has shown himself “concerned” about the end of this agreement, since he has criticized the attitude of the central Executive that “has not taken seriously the end of this agreement that absolutely leaves a very important part of the fishing fleet stranded”. “We have been asking the Government for months to apply all its power to negotiate a new agreement or extend it. There is a relinquishment of functions by Sánchez,” he added.
In this line, the president of the PP-A has highlighted that the leader of the Government “has not lived up to the intensity of these negotiations” and the alternative “has been aid that is not adapted to the Andalusian fishing fleet and dozens of families of fishermen are left completely stranded by the lack of sensitivity, initiative and political weight of the Government in Brussels”.
“I find it unfortunate and enormously irresponsible to play with the rights and lives of families whose only economic support is the sea and fishing in Moroccan fishing grounds,” he concluded.
It should be remembered that as of midnight this Monday, the European fleet that fishes in the Moroccan fishing grounds, mostly Spanish, will have to leave these waters, at the end of the protocol of the fisheries agreement between the EU and Morocco, waiting for the European justice rule on its legality. The current agreement between the EU and the Kingdom of Morocco entered into force on July 18, 2019, which allowed the activity of the community fleet to resume, which had been suspended since July 14, 2018.
