MADRID, 9 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The First Vice President and Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation, Nadia Calviño, received this Friday in New York the Foreign Policy Association (FPA) Medal, the highest distinction awarded by this association, which recognizes the winners for their commitment to the multilateralism and work to broaden public knowledge of international affairs.
The head of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation has stressed that in a complex geopolitical context, “the most prestigious international organizations and institutions have given value to Spain’s leadership since we came to government five years ago.”
He has also underlined the need to launch messages of cooperation and trust in the current international context, “in which the tectonic plates are moving” on which a world order has been jointly based since the Second World War.
Along these lines, he stressed that “there is only one way to address these global challenges, and that is the multilateral framework and its institutions”, which together they must continue to support and strengthen so that they continue to respond to current needs.
Calviño recalled that peace and multilateralism, in the face of war and fragmentation, “have brought prosperity to millions of people around the world.”
The rector of the City University of New York (CUNY), Félix V. Matos Rodríguez, and the president of the American Museum of Natural History, Sean Decatur, were also honored at the same ceremony.
