MADRID, 19 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has reached an agreement with the steel supplier Kobe Steel for the supply of steel obtained with low carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in its future models, from 2023, as reported by the two companies.

Nissan pointed out that Kobenable steel allows CO2 emissions to be reduced during the smelting process in blast furnaces and said that the agreement also includes the supply of aluminum sheets that also have less impact on the environment.

The agreement reached with Kobe is part of Nissan’s strategy to achieve carbon neutrality throughout the life cycle of its products by 2050, noting that 60% of the weight of vehicles corresponds to steel parts, while 10 % is for aluminum.

For this reason, the automobile firm stressed that the use of green aluminum and steel represents a “very effective” way to reduce CO2 emissions in the manufacture of automobile parts.
