Shots were fired on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Thursday, Illinois state police said.
No injuries were reported after the shots were fired about 3:05 a.m. in the outbound lanes of the expressway near 63rd Street.
Police initially said a semi tractor trailer had been shot, but later said that was incorrect.
Both exit ramps at 63rd Street and parts of the southbound expressway were temporarily closed for the investigation. They had reopened as of about 4:30 a.m.
