Since Tuesday, Notre-Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo, published in 1831, is head of Internet sales and out of stock in many bookshops. Folio (groupe Madrigall) has committed to donate all profits from sales of the edition, Notre-Dame de Paris published in the collection Folio Classique the subscription funds launched by the head of State, announced the publisher in a press release. “We are fortunate to have a beautiful edition with a preface of 50 pages of Adrien Goetz followed by a rich record,” recalled Antoine Gallimard, the head of the group Madrigall.

Originally set to 10.20 euros, the price of the book will be on this occasion reduced to 5,60 euros. The publisher has planned a new edition of 30,000 copies of the novel and hopes to eventually raise between 50,000 and 100,000 euros, which will be fully paid into the fund “rebatirnotredamedeparis.fr”. A red band printed on the front cover will indicate this operation. “It is a way for us to pay tribute to the culture and heritage of the French. The support of emotion that is the book, both material and intangible, brings us together, like the cathedral itself,” explained the editor.

An anthology of texts on Our Lady to appear

Another editor of pocket to publish Notre-Dame de Paris , Pocket (groupe Editis) has indicated that it will pay during one year the profits from the sale of this novel to the heritage Foundation. The price of the novel in the Pocket is 4.40 euros, the edition the cheapest on the market.

The Pocket Book (Hachette group), intended to reprint of 23,000 copies of the Victor Hugo novel. About 4.60 euros than the cost of a copy, the publisher planned to donate a euro until the end of the year in the foundations selected by the government for the reconstruction of the cathedral. A badge placed on the front cover will indicate the operation.

From his side, Dargaud, Dupuis and Lombard (groupe Media Participations) were proposed by their authors to participate in a collective work freely inspired by Notre-Dame de Paris. The rights and profits of this album will be destined to the reconstruction of the building.

in addition, the ministry of Culture and the editions Points have announced the release in the next few days, “an anthology of writers on Notre-Dame de Paris, of which all profits will go to the renovation of the cathedral in the cade of the national collection.”
