La Magdeleine secondary school in La Prairie was completely evacuated on Friday morning due to a bomb threat.

The evacuation of the school began around 10:30 a.m. and the operation was still in progress around 11 a.m.

A huge security perimeter was established all around the school and many streets were closed to traffic.

Several police officers and investigators were on the school grounds and checks were underway.

All students at the school were safe.

This is the second time since the beginning of the week that this La Prairie school has been targeted by a potential threat.

On Tuesday, the police received information from a student that a possibly armed person was outside La Magdeleine school.

A vast police operation was then set in motion.

The Grandes Seigneuries school service center had made the decision to close the school on Wednesday and Thursday, as a preventive measure.

Thursday evening, the Roussillon Intermunicipal Police Board announced the arrest of two students and the seizure of two toy weapons. The two youngsters have been questioned by investigators and could now face criminal charges.
