A man was shot and wounded in the borough of Lachine, in Montreal, on the night of Monday to Tuesday.

Calls to 911 alerted police to gunshots heard on Richmond Street, near Saint-Pierre Avenue, said a spokeswoman for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.

On the spot, the police located the seriously injured victim who was rushed to a hospital center where he is in critical condition.

The scene was protected by a large security perimeter to allow investigators who should travel in the morning to analyze it, said agent Véronique Comtois.

Witnesses could be met by investigators who will have to view neighborhood surveillance cameras, it was added.

The black series of shootings in several areas of Montreal continues to cause excitement and concern among the Montreal population.
