More than two months have passed since an elk was killed at Lehigh County’s Trexler Nature Preserve, and authorities are still looking for the culprit.
Pennsylvania State Police believe the female elk was killed between Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 in a fenced-in area at the preserve, 5050 Game Preserve Road in North Whitehall Township. The preserve is next to the Lehigh Valley Zoo, and it was zoo staffers who found the carcass.
Lehigh Valley Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest, not conviction, of the responsible party.
Troopers ask anyone with information related to the crime to call the Bethlehem barracks at 610-861-2026 or the Lehigh Valley Crime Stoppers toll-free at 800-426-8477 (TIPS). Callers do not have to give their name.
