Antioch police have identified the "nearly naked" man who was reportedly running with two naked children through a parking lot near Routes 173 and 83 Friday night before being confronted by police and arrested.

Police said Miguel A. Gasca-Ledesma, 33, of Antioch, was charged with felony aggravated domestic battery and misdemeanors including endangering the life of a child, disorderly conduct, domestic battery, resisting a police officer and aggravated assault. He appeared in Lake County Bond Court Saturday morning, officials said, and was ordered held in the Lake County jail in lieu of $150,000 bail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday, authorities said.

Police received calls around 7 p.m. Friday reporting that a "nearly naked" man was running through the parking lots of area businesses while carrying "two young children who were completely unclothed," officials said. The toddlers were the man’s 2- and 3-year-old children, according to police. As police responded, the department received additional calls reporting the man running in the middle of Route 173, still carrying the children.

Police confronted the man in the parking lot of the Best Western Plus hotel on Route 173, authorities said, and the man initially refused to comply with police commands, according to reports. He was arrested "after a brief struggle," police said.

The man and his children were taken to a hospital. When police searched the man’s apartment in the 1200 block of Main Street Friday night, officers "detected an overpowering, unidentified chemical odor," authorities said, which prompted a hazmat investigation. Authorities eventually determined their hazmat concerns were unfounded, police said.

Gasca-Ledesma was charged with the crimes after he was released from the hospital, and the two children were treated and turned over to their mother, Antioch police said.
