"We had a nice talk just about everything," the Lakeland Republican recalled in an interview from the Capitol on Tuesday. "He’s just a down-to-earth guy’s guy. He’s the kind of person that looks at life with as sense of optimism and he wants people to be successful. He wants this country to be successful. And he’s a deal maker."

Ross, who was served a lunch of beef stir-fry, said he and Trump discussed the Florida election and Trump’s executive order on immigration, which Ross fully supports.

"Could it have been done different? Probably so," Ross said. "Could there have been others consulted? Probably so. Now that’s in the courts and we’ll see how that’s decided."

Ross may have been the first member of Congress to fly on Air Force One with Trump. He posted a photo on Facebook and wrote:

"I was honored and proud to speak with President Trump today about the issues affecting our nation and, especially, District 15. There is going to be a lot of hard work ahead of us, but we are on our way to creating jobs, securing our border, reforming our tax code, and better protecting our country and its people."
