New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady woke up Monday with five Super Bowl victories to his name, the most of any QB in NFL history.

The Patriots pulled off a stunning comeback against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday night, leading to a lot of folks, some perhaps begrudgingly, calling Brady the GOAT. If you’re wondering why folks are calling Brady an animal, don’t fret: GOAT stands for the Greatest Of All Time.

Brady is certainly among the best quarterbacks of all time, a list that also usually includes Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Brett Favre, John Elway and Dan Marino, among others. It’s hard to argue against Brady’s resume at this point. He’s won five Lombardi trophies, four Super Bowl MVP awards, pulled off the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history and has eye-popping career stats.

After the win, news outlets from Bleacher Report to CBS Sports to the Chicago Tribune to Fox Sports were proclaiming Brady had sealed his GOAT status. Countless current and former NFL players said the same. Even NBA superstar LeBron James made his view known, tweeting, “Brady=GOAT. CONGRATS brother!!”

“He is amazing, the most amazing player I’ll ever see or play with,” Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan said after the game, according to Bleacher Report.

The Patriots trailed 28-3 in the third quarter, but somehow scrapped their way back to a tie-game before winning Super Bowl 51 in overtime. It was the first time a team had come back by a deficit of more than 10 points in a Super Bowl. Along the way, Brady threw for 466 yards, a Super Bowl record. He now owns 10 different Super Bowl records. It was a fitting win for Brady, a sixth-round draft pick who was never expected to have a career like he has.

“Tom’s had a lot of great games,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said. “And this was another one.”
