The return of PSA continues. On the occasion of the presentation of the annual results of the holding company FFP, Robert Peugeot has hammered home that his family was very satisfied with the “outstanding success” of Opel, and has lifted the veil on its ambitions for the French car manufacturer.

The family Peugeot, one of the three majority shareholders of the PSA, to support a new acquisition by the vehicle manufacturer if an opportunity presents itself, also says Robert Peugeot in an interview to Echoes on Tuesday. “We have supported from the outset the project Opel. If another opportunity presents itself, it is not we who freinerons. Carlos knows it,” says Robert Peugeot, referring to the chairman of the management board of the automaker Carlos Tavares.

He said, however, that there must always be an “alignment of planets” that a large manoeuvre to materialize and that today “nothing” is not yet come up to his office. If necessary, says Robert Peugeot, and FFP would be willing to invest capital in reasonable proportions. Robert Peugeot has also benefited from the presentation of the annual results of its holding company to recall the aura that benefits his family : “we have the power to influence some, given our past industry”, considers he.

Towards an alliance with Fiat Chrysler ?

Fiat Chrysler is regularly cited as a possible candidate for future consolidation transactions with PSA. “With them, as with others, the planets could be aligned,” says Robert Peugeot. The powerful industrial place and in the right line of the pattern of the French manufacturer : the beginning of march, Carlos Tavares has confirmed that this track was on the table. “Everything is open, if we earn money, we can remain master of its future, we can dream of everything,” said the CEO of PSA, in the margins of the motor show in Geneva.

These declarations come a few weeks after the boss of PSA, Carlos Tavares, has confirmed its ambition to return to the u.s. market. This return is, however, not in the traditional sense : “we will do this in a very creative way and disruptive”, he insisted, referring to a “fresh out of the marketing and distribution”. The French manufacturer would mark its grand return to the country of Uncle Sam, after more than thirty years of absence.
