MADRID, 29 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Renfe has reached two million free passes issued for traveling on Cercanías, Rodalies and Media Distancia from September 1 to December 31, 2023.
Of the total number of free tickets issued, which can be acquired at any time during their validity period, 1,441,195 correspond to passes for traveling in the different Cercanías, Rodalies and Cercanías Ancho Métrico hubs, while 496,395 are Media Distancia tickets.
In addition to the free passes for regular travelers, Renfe has sold 67,931 tickets with discounts of 50% from Avant to use these services. This same discount applies to other high-speed routes that have been declared Public Service Obligation (OSP), which operate under the same conditions as an Avant voucher, as reported in a statement.
The company recalls that the Cercanías app allows the acquisition of recurring Cercanías and Rodalies subscriptions in a quick, simple and agile way, generating a QR code that is downloaded to the mobile phone and that can later be used in the access control of the seasons. Media Distancia passes can also be purchased through the Renfe website.
To acquire the subscription, although it is free, it is necessary to deposit a deposit of 10 euros in the case of Cercanías and Rodalies, and 20 euros for each conventional Media Distancia service. Payment by card allows the automatic refund of the deposit, once it is confirmed that the condition of having made 16 trips during these four months has been met.
To facilitate communication with customers, Renfe has put into operation a specific telephone line, 91 919 15 67, to inform about these free passes.
